Q: My roof
has moss on it and
looks messy. I worry because I know that the moss causes damage and may
shorten the life of my roof. Emma Amaid recently wrote the following in
her 'Just Ask Emma' informational piece in the Beachcomber: "...never,
ever pressure wash your roof! Pressure washing can remove the granules
that are the protective surface of the shingles... No matter what
somebody selling this service tells you... pressure washing is very bad
for shingled roofs." I want the moss cleaned off but I am afraid
that I will be duped into paying for a service that is much more
damaging than the moss itself. What should I do? Who can I trust?
